I would be sad too....but i guess everyone always tells me that you have to pick your battles. If it's important to you then I would broach the subject to your FH...what does he say?

Re: Would you be upset....

seeing as I call my FIL's the Voldemorts - i feel this pain....

Yes - your FMIL should make an effort to come to your shower...ESPECIALLY if she was going to see her other son & could time the visits so the plane tickets cost less or SOMETHING.....

I'm sorry Lianne.....it hurt you & i know it....but as long as you are surrounded by women you LOVE when you have your shower - you won't think twice about her not being there...

I wouldn't be upset...because maybe it's a matter of choice...she probably can't afford to see her son AND attend your shower, so she has to choose one, and she chose to see her son...which is semi-understandable...I definitely understand where you're coming from, but try not to let it bother you too much... she's the one that's missing out..

FH says she is being her usual selfish self. He doesnt really care for her because she divorced his dad after 35 years of marriage and could have cared less about raising FH- he is 10 years younger than his sister and 7 years younger than his brother. So when they were getting ready to move out he was still in HS.

Hanging out with her friends was more important to her. His sister practically raised him (even though mom lived there)

Wow, that is horrible! So you know what to expect from her then....don't let anything she does come as a surprise to you from now on..

honestly,
i would NOT be upset
if she only has it in her budget for one trip, you cant blame her for not wanting to see or going to see her son

Yes I would understand becao ce tuse she still havome to the wedding. Thank God you have a FMIL to share you and FH day with (the wedding day). I don't have that. My FH parents are both decease. The shower is minor the wedding is major. Try not to worry about the little things because I'm sure you so many other things to think about.

If you know how she is, then dont let it get to you and dont take it personally.

It is strange that she didnt make your eparty and now isnt going to the shower, but hey- some people are just weird.

I would be upset if she lived nearby though.

What makes it strange is that she loves me. She was so happy that we were together. So I dunno.

Maybe its the money.

Maybe it is just the $ thing. And like you said, she favors her other sone or whatever. Ugh - i have when people do that.

You will have your family and friends there so you probebly wont miss her being there.

Meh...I would probably be pissed for a second but i wouldn't let it bother me...it s not like she's going on a trip, she's visiting another child so I wouldn't let it bother you....she'll be there for the wedding and that's what counts!

I don't think that she had bad intentions. It's probably hard finding the time AND money to make 2 trips. She did say that she will be looking for a gown for your wedding while she is there. She will be doing wedding related things on that trip which is nice!!!

I have a feeling that some of FH's family won't attend my bridal shower because they live 90 minutes away........... which isn't far, but I just have a feeling

I would not be upset; both my mother and FH's will not be at my shower and I am fine with it, because I don't expect them to travel twice within 3 months.
