would you be upset?

would you be upset?

so my mom scheduled my bridal shower in august and then told me that my aunt who's daughter is having a baby in august was thinking of having her baby shower that weekend but on saturday?!?! i mean she is due in august so you would think it should be at least a month ahead of time bec what happens if she delivers early? i mean it just gets me so mad that my mom already booked the place and getting invites and tells my aunt the weekend and then she was like oh thats the weekend we might do this too.

is it wrong to be upset??

i would be annoyed... from your perspective and from a guests perspective... the last thing most of us need is a baby shower and a bridal shower back to back like that...

i find it very strange that they would still consider that weekend... unless of course that was something that the mom-to-be decided... then id just deal with it...

honestly yes I would be annoyed and I would also be annoyed as a guest too. They should take the guests into consideration

I really wouldn't worry about it in terms of overshadowing your day. Each one of you will have your moment in the spot light, and look at it as being easier for people coming from farther away that it's only one trip.

Now if it was the same weekend as your wedding I would understand being upset, but if it was me, I'd say don't sweat the small stuff.

I don't think I would be upset really, I'd be more upset for my guests that they'd have two parties to go to and two sets of presents to pay for. But it is what it is and if your aunt isn't willing to change it, then you kind of need to take it in stride.

But I DO think its weird that her baby shower is so close to when she is due, what the heck is the point of that?

I would be annoyed as the bride and as a guest. The last thing I would want to do is spend my entire weekend going to showers. Plus its expensive for the guests too! I would have your mom say something to her.

Id be upset. My engagement party was in March last year then the next day they had my cousins baby shower. Now this year my wedding is friday- and saturday that same cousin is having her sons 1st bday the day after.

It really depends. I personally wouldn't be upset, only because maybe that was the only time that worked for them also to do it. Also, not sure if you guys have similar guests at both, but if maybe there's OOT guests - this way they can go to both? Either way, your day will be your special day, and same for hers :)

i understand. my FH's aunt threw her daughters sweet 16 the day after my shower.

she left my shower early to give her daughter manicures and pedicures

then THE LAST THING i wanted to do was have to go to the sweet 16 a day after my shower. i had bunch of thank you cards to write and gifts to put away

i wanted to bask in my own 'special day'
instead I was forced to hang out with a bunch of 16 yr olds!!

I FEEL YOUR PAIN, and i was annoyed, so i can understand you being annoyed

I would be annoyed- but I guess if I was an OOT guest, it would be nice to it both parties in one weekend

this...

but if your mom already has the invitations, and your aunt is still in the planning stages, I'd just say 'sorry, the invitations have already been printed the date can not be changed'
