would you book at a place that isn't built yet???

I've been going back and forth about my reception hall for over a month. Ive seen about 30 halls. I loved the vineyard caterers - but its really far. I was considering the Hamlet Willowcreek - but it is due to be finished in 2005. Would you trust a place like that - has anyone been to a wedding at the other hamlets.... how were they???

My cousin booked Villa Lombardi's before it was built and got some ridiculous deal on it - like $60 a person. Sometimes it pays to book before to save money.

I've heard wonderful things about the Hamlet so I don't think you'd have to worry. Maybe you could ask for a tasting at one of their other locations??????

Construction Building never meet their deadlines. Plus new places always have their kinks to work out. I wouldn't trust it. Stick with an established place that's been doing this awhile and has a reputation. JMO!

Quite a few North Ritz Brides booked before it was complete and had a great experience. Ask to see a floor plan and as much information as they have to make yourself feel comfortable.

Good Luck!

I don't know if I would be brave enough to do that. I would be too nervous about the food, staff, and a million other things. I don't anything about the Hamlets so if other people who do tell you to trust it than fgo for it. I just don't think I could. Good Luck!

While I agree construction deadlines are often delayed... Hamlet properties have a great reputation.

I should tell you that I am a little biased because my mother's employer has the bid for the kitchen equipment on the new property.

It will probably be finished on time, but there's always that chance that it won't be, so I would book elsewhere, just to have peace of mind.

Well I booked my hall before it was complete yet. I booked the new Inn at East Wind before it was complete. They are still in the process of constantly doing things to it.

When exactly is it expected to be finished? How close to your wedding date? I see you have october 2005 in your profile. Do they expect it to be done by July or August, which would leave a gap for your wedding and late renovations? I think you have to sit down with them and find out how close to your wedding they expect to be done. If they expect to be done in early 2005 than I say go for it. you will probably get a great deal right now. But if they don't expect to be done with it until September 05, than I would not chance it. That is too close for comfort and what will you do if it is a month before your wedding and not finished?

Up until a few months ago, I would have probably voted yes, (because I love to get a good deal)...BUT My MOH just had a bad experience doing this for her wedding and had switch halls after she saw it. So I voted 'NO'!

Do you mind saying what hall?

I vote yes but make sure you are a wedding that is planned several months after it is supposed to be finished. I would not want to be the first wedding.

I am doing this with PJCC but I am far from the first wedding so I am not too worried.

Its the Hamlet Willow Creek - they are booking into 2006. They are due to be finished in Feb 2005, with their first weddings in April 2005. I'm a few months after that in the fall.

I wouldn't - too chancy - my BF's friend did this and they gave her a fantastic price and then they kept pushing off the date and then when she called they kept being shady about the date and wouldn't give her a direct answer. Finally, because they wouldn't confirm anything with her - she had one of her friends call and act like she was a new bride and interested in booking and they told her it wouldn't be ready until Jan 04 - well - she was getting married in Nov 03!!!! She pulled out and had to change her reception hall 3 months before the wedding.

Re: would you book at a place that isn't built yet???

We booked the Hamlet, but I was very nervous about booking somewhere that wasn't built. The only reason I felt comfortable booking is b/c we booked 6 months after there first event was to take place that way they could work out an little details. Also, the Hamlets are reputable so that made me feel better about it. I also drive past it every month (I'm neurotic!) to see how things are progressing and so far they are starting to do the actul building (as opposed to leveling the ground). Also, they are building a housing complex next door and that's almost done. As of now, I have no concerns about our decision to book them! But, if something like this were to make you very nervous then the stress alone would be cause not to book! Good luck!
