I called The Swan Club yesterday and was asked how many guests. So I said we have 95 people on our guest list. The next question was how many people do you realistically expect and I said 75.
Apparently we fall smack dab in between their two rooms: One room holds a max of 75 and then the next room is for 100 or more.
We obviously can't guarantee 100 people (SC brides -- am I right in assuming you have to guarantee 100 people to get the bigger room?)
But what happens if 85 people respond yes and I'm booked in the smaller room?
FH and me are supposed to go Saturday to see it, but we're leaning towards not going because of this.

I have the same problem with SC, which I'm also going to see on Saturday! What time would you be going? Our invite list is up to about 130... One room holds up to 145 and I forget what the next one down is! I'm sort of in the middle also!
I'd go and see it and if you really like it, talk it through with them. Maybe there's something they can suggest?

MOst likely your list will go up!! You still have a while when we started plannin our wedding our initial guest list was 110 and by the time the wedding came we invited 171 We had 120 in attendance!

they may be able to work with you in lowering the minimum ppl allowed for the larger room...i wouldnt want to take the chance and i would probably not go.

you are SO right. I thought I had the list all set when I realized I forgot to add 5 of FH's uncle's and their families! That's almost as bad as forgetting mom! LOL

yea see if they can lower the gaurentee ..depending on the day and time of year they may be willing to do that for u...otherwise ur in a tight spot...do u invite less ppl for the smaller room ?? good luck

i had this problem at a place i ended up not booking with, however, when i told them my problem and kind of acted like i was going to walk out bc of it, they were like well come upstairs, well see what we can do for you, and they were ready to let me have the bigger room for a lesser minimum. Maybe you could see if they will offer you the bigger room with a minimum of 75??? If they don't then I wouldnt book there bc like y ou said, you dont want to risk having too many people in the smaller room or having to pay more for the bigger room, however, if they lower it for you and you like it then book it!

Jordana told us to try and get there between 9-11 am because there are weddings going on after that. We have an appointment at George Washington Manor at 11:30, so I don't know if we can work it out. But she said the following Saturday we could stop in anytime between 9-5.

You've obviously never met my FH....
Our initial guest list was 125 and he said, 'Cut it!'
So then I got it down to 86 and he STILL said to cut it down.
Now we're at 92 because he actually added a few people and he's STILL telling me to cut people off of my side of the list!!!!

Aww, I'll miss you by a lot! FH and I are driving up to NY after he gets off of work (I HATE tax season LOL). We'll probably get there around 7pm, which is good because she said to make it before 7:30pm, when a party starts! GL, though! If you like it then I hope they'll work with you!

We actually had a similar situation. We are expecting approximately 150 ppl at our wedding. We went to a hall where the smaller room had a max of 150. I don't remember what the minimum was for the bigger room but they would negotiate with letting us have the bigger room with only 150. One day we actually saw the room set for around 150 (but it was a little less) and it was crammed. The tables were about one arm's length away from one another and there wasn't a lot of room to walk around for the waitresses, guests or us. So we decided to play it safe and we didn't book with them.

you should go there and see what they tell you in person.....we wanted a specific room at our RH and we basically begged them for it we got it because we were booking off season (december) and on a friday night so they were able to lower the minimum for us - otherwise we would have had to guarantee at least 200 people....we ended up at about 10 more people than we wanted to....but for us its worth it - we wanted that room see what happens when you get there - they might budge.....when i called JT they told me we needed 225 but we went anyway - im glad i didnt listen to what they told me over the phone! we got our guarantee down to 175.....

i booked the swan club when i was still engaged and we had the Contessa room for an 85 minimum at $80 pp in april.

I would def see if they can work with their numbers if you really like the place. Otherwise tell them to forget about it.

i'd talk to them about lowering the minimum for the larger room, and if that wasn't an option, i'd walk away. that's just me. best of luck with your decision.

I was quoted the contessa room for a min of 75 and a max of 140. I would ask them to do the same for you.

My FH wanted the biggest room there but it holds min 165... I thought that was alot so we got them to drop to 150... And I asked them, what happens if we cant meet the minimum, and they said they will work with you (aka, thow things in for free)
eta: i suggest you still go there and see if u even like the room first! and then talk to them about the numbers... i would then go for the bigger room b/c if you end up paying for guests who arent there, they will end up throwing stuff in like a seafood boat or something
