Would you feel bad about exchanging a wedding gift?
Original post by glinda_goodwitch
An old coworker gave me a wedding gift today--very cool gift. It is from Bombay company and it is a kit to plant an Amaryllis. But the only problem is that Amaryllis are poisonous to cats, and I don't feel comfortable having something poisonous in the apartment. What if he (kitty) got into it? We don't really have room to put it somewhere where the cat can't reach. Would you feel bad exchanging the gift if you were me? It's too bad because I love projects like that. But I just don't like the possibility of my kitty getting sick.

I wouldn't feel bad exchanging a gift in general. But if you're kitty can get sick - all the more reason to do it! :)
Totally agree and your friend will understand.
I agree with this too. I would return it to prevent kitty from getting sick.

nope. would not feel bad at all. sometimes you just have to.
just got back from BBB tonite--and had to return some shower gifts because of duplicates, or i received an upgraded version from someone else. (i.e.--registered for 15 pc set of something and wound up getting a 24 pc from someone else!)

Okay so now the thing is that I received the gift today, but it was actually left for me since I was not around when the friend came to visit my workplace. I was working off campus in DC (we are in MD). So I never got to thank the friend, and so I have to send him a thank you. But I shouldn't tell him that Amaryllis are poisonous to cats, right? Just thank him and don't let him know there is a problem?
either way works. if it's a good friend, them let them know...otherwise, just a nice thank you works
