At your shower most the people gave cash as a gift??? I know thats not a BAD thing lol but I think I will feel weird opening the cards and having money in them... I mean its not like I can say ohhhh thank you for the towel set and show everyone.... I can just read the card and then not really say anything about the gift
Just asking b/c we finished registering this weekend and fmil saw the list of things we registered for and laughed since theres really not that much on the list and everything is pretty inexpensive. She says since we are paying for the wedding ourselves and trying to save for a house and money is tight she will just spread the word to her family just to give cash.... I told her not to but I think she still will

why don't you do a registry for your honeymoon - so that instead of cash people can gift give you gift toward your honeymoon - and you can tell people about your plans a little with each card

I think I would probably ignore the request and get a gift anyway, but that's just me. As for the recieving end, I wouldn't mind or feel weird getting cash as a shower gift. Just be prepared, people like to buy gifts for the shower and if your registry is small, you should expect to get things that you did not register for.

I thought about that actually... basically it came down to there are some 'old fashioned' people at the shower that would feel more comfortable bringing a toaster lol Honestly if they give cash its going to the HM anyway

my fh and I actually spoke about this...he already has a place and mostly everything that we need. We registered for little stuff and then when we looked at the registry, we realized that we didnt have a lot of stuff on it. He thought that people would give cash at my shower...I wasnt sure how I felt about it. Thinking about it now...its not weird at all. Its still a gift and maybe at the shower...you could read a little bit of the card since you cant show the money LOL

I would register for a few more things. You know there are some people that would not feel comfortable giving cash and they will buy you something you dont want or need.
I know the situation you are in because my FH and I have been living together for so long we already have most things. We are going to register for some brand new things that we already have and save them for when we get a house.

At my SIL shower, some people, not many though, gave money, and she just read the card and said thank you to the person, then if someone screamed out 'What you get?' She just said money. I'm sure guests expect that some gifts might be money and its prob been done before
