Would you invite them?

Would you invite them?

I figured I would be long gone from my research lab once graduation happened. However, since I can't find a job I am finishing up some small projects and papers here over the summer.
I originally hadn't planned on inviting my advisor/boss or any of my current co-workers (I share an office with 4 of them, we're all about the same age and we're all in the same dept/program at school). But now I will be here through the summer. Do you think I should now consider inviting at least my boss? (Honestly I don't think she'll come). And if it makes I difference I have been working for her since 2003.
What about my co-workers/classmates? There is one I would like to invite but I sort of feel like if I invite one, I have to invite all.

If it matters, we are inviting FH's bosses and a few co-workers.

I would probably invite the boss, but as for co workers, why dont you save them for the B list, if you are having one.

If it was me I'd invite all of them or none of them.

I am inviting my mentor and his wife and one of the scientists in the lab. I spend so much time with them I want to invite them. That being said it does not sound like you are close with your mentor but I would invite her any way- She may be insulted if you do not. If you are really close with one of your lab mates then invite that person but you do not have to invite all of them if you do not want to.

With small office situations, I usually tend to say invite all, or none.

See it isn't necessarily a small office. There are about 300-400 people in our building, but only 7 of us (including me and my boss) in our research group.
I can totally get away with just inviting my advisor. But then I feel like I would want to invite one other girl. I don't know how well that would go over.

Do you hang out with any of the coworkers outside of work? If not, I don't think you have to invite anyone you don't want to. I might consider the advisor. It usually seems wise to keep those types of relationships as pleasant as possible for future jobs and opportunities (that sounds so opportunistic but it's so true for new professionals).
