Would you let your 16 year old daughter get breast implants?

Original post by marymoon

After all of these shows like I want a famous face, etc, I wonder, would you guys llet andor pay for your teenage daughter to get breast implants?

I think I'd ONLY do it, if she were literally flat chested. Not if she was an A or B cup and trying to look like Pamela Lee. Plus I'd make sure she understood all the risks and that she were 'old enouch' according to the doctors. Maybe I'd make her wait until she's 18/

ETA: I take back that maybe. I was just thinking about how YOUNG 16 is. I'd support her decision if she were over 18 and needed it b/c she's flat chested. I'd never support it beause she's a B and wants to be a double D

As long as she has the money. She can do it. Its her choice and her body.

HECK NO !!!!
I would not allow my 16 year old who still needs to develop and mature and underdtand FULLY what it means for the future....

WHEN she becomes an adult and has her own $$$, if she wants it then fine, but not when she needs my $$$ and my permission

I wouldn't at all. She would have to wait until she was old enough and could pay for it herself.

I'm really not comfortable with plastic surgery and I think 16 is way too young to understand the implications, risks and long-term effects.

at 16, NO WAY!
she wouldn't be old enough (IMO)

If she were older and she payed for them herself, and was FLAT chested, then fine!

I have a friend that got them at @ 17 years old. She was TOTALLY FLAT and she paid for them herself!

You are not even finished growing at 16, even at 18 not all women are totally done growing. A reputable doctor would not even touch someone at 16 for implants, unless it was for reconstructive reasons.

I have implants myself, and I wanted them since I was 15. I finally got them last year at the age of 24 after graduating college, which I paid for myself. If my ADULT daughter wanted them and could afford them herself, then she could do what she wants.

No way. I was extremely skinny in highschool so I was pretty flat. When I got a little older and gained a little weight, I went up to a full B, small C and I was like 21 years old.
There's no way I would pay for my child, at any age, to have a boob job. If sh just had to do it, she would pay for it herself. I would much rather her take that money and tour Europe though.

no - at 16 you are still developing. i know a lot of girls get their periods way before then, but your body doesn't stop growing until your 20's. i'm still waiting for my growth spurt, should happen any day now.

No!

MANY girls are not developed at 16, or at least fully developed.
When I was 16, I was probably an A or B cup; I went to college and was a DD.
I was definately a late bloomer.

No way, but I'd buy her all the padded bras she wanted.

No way. She still has time to grow, and she may even decide later that she doens't want it. When I was 14 I desparately wanted a reduction surgery, but my mom said wait until at least 18 when I stop growning. Now, I've grown to love my body and would only get a reduction later in life if it takes a toll on my back. At 16 you're not emotionally (let alone physically) ready to make those kinds of decisions.

Negative. It would be a cold day in hell before that would ever happen...I'd by them for myself first .... ... jk.

Re: Would you let your 16 year old daughter get breast implants?

Absolutely not!! I was practically flat-chested until I went to college. Somewhere between my 18th and 19th birthdays, I went from an A cup to a full C. (!!) It was not because of weight gain...I've been the same weight since I was 14.

To get to my point, 16 is too young to know what your breasts will look like when they are fully developed. Getting implants when your body is still developing is a HUGE mistake. If my daughter was determined to get them, I would tell her to wait until she was at least 20...and she would have to pay for them herself. If she wants them that bad, she'll be dedicated enough to save up the money. Implants are a cosmetic surgery...no one really NEEDS them.

On the flip side, if my daughter needed a breast reduction for medical reasons (i.e. too much pressure on her back), I would absolutely pay for that. However, I would again make her wait until she was at least 19 or 20. The reduction would be pointless if her breasts were still growing!
