Would you mail out your invitations if it was raining?
I am planning to mail mine out on Saturday, but there's a chance of rain. I don't want the addresses to smear. Would they even go outside that day?? I was thinking I could do it Monday, but I figured the hand cancelling would take a while. Might have time that morning but not sure...

I wouldn't do it in the rain. Can you bring them to the Post Office?

I think if you're dropping them off inside the PO it is fine, but don't put them in a mailbox

As the other ladies have already suggested - take them to the post office.

I'm just curious - why wouldn't you?
I just don't see rain as an issue. I had my invites in a box, brought them to the Post Office, handed the box over to the postal worker and that was it.

Oh, I am definitely planning on taking them to the P.O., especially since I'm going to hand cancel them. I just wondered if they would actually go outside somehow that day. Maybe not?

To be honest, there's always a chance it can be ruined. I had mailed a birthday card to a friend of mine who lives in Suffolk ( I live in Nassau). She probably got it about a month after I sent it and the card, the envelope, she saved it for me........it looked like it was thrown in a puddle and sat in it for a few days.........A MESS.
So no, I wouldnt mail in the rain...........LOL Waiting another day isnt gonna kill ya.

As long as you take them to the Post Office your self and make sure they don't get wet on the way, you should be fine. Mail carriers have those big bags for a reason

This is when they mark the stamp as paid, rather than running it through the machines.

ok, the same as everything else with invitations- you can't control what happens to them once they leave your hands. What if its raining they day they are delivered to your guests? There are some things you just can't avoid.

I agree-you really can't control the weather-what if it isn't raining the day you bring them to the PO but it is raining when they are deliver to your guests?

TOTALLY agree with this! anything can happen to the invites once they leave your hands...whether its raining or not. its hard, but i think us brides need to remember that theres some things that we just can't control..... i would mail them and not worry about it

Put them in a plastic bag when you take them. There's really no way to change the weather and even if you wait until Monday, there's no guarantee. I don't think the mail person delivering them to your guests will care and wait to deliver them if its raining.
