Assume all qualities are the same, except the Hamptons wedding would be a more casual affair with several parties and the NYC wedding would be black tie event with a 1.5 hour boat cruise around NYC after.
I'm having trouble trying to figure out what kind of wedding I want, please help!

I personally would choose the Hampton, b/c I don't do boats. So if I were a guest at the Manhattan affair, I would not go on the boat portion.

I posted on BHB but I also wanted to add alot of people cant do smaller boats... My DH and most the men in his family get VERY sick on anything smaller then a huge cruise ship

I love the Hamptons, but a weekend is just too much for me personally.
I love NYC, but I'd ditch the boat.

They both sound very classy but I'd go with the elegance of Manhattan. I love the romance of boat cruises at night!!

Well everyone would be invited to the Hamptons events, but aren't required to come for the whole weekend. We were thinking of getting a bunch of houses for the weekend- and everything would be very casual and fun, nothing too fancy.
FI really loves the boat idea, I'm not that crazy about it. He's originally from MI so I think he wants to show the whole NYC thing. But they do a really nice job- setting up cordials, petit fours and little desserts on the boat.

it would depend on the time of year- it's cold out east now and in may
it's only nice out there June, July and August

Depends on time of year. In the summer I would love Hamptons. In spring or fall, I could go either way. Winter I would probably pick the city, but w/o the cruise around NYC.

Fall in the Hamptons is beautiful.. Sweaters at the Beach I love! I think it's romantic and different, and wedding weekends are popular now.. I voted for the Hamptons
