....you called your sibling to tell them and their husband or wife that someone in the family wasn't well and they didn't call them? I told them that they had an xray taken that revealed something bad and that they were going to the dr to see what it means. This was 2 weeks ago and they never called to see how they are. I am so annoyed. They only seem to care about themselves.

My brother is like that, I told him my grandfather had cancer and he can't make the hour trip to go see him. THere is reeally nothgin you can do about it, and try not to let it bother you.

Yes, I would be upset, but would realize it's out of my hands.
My DH was in the hospital a few weeks ago for appendicitis. I called his FATHER and he didn't even come to the hospital, which was 5 minutes away!!!! Unbelievealbe (sp?)!

IMO it depends. Sometimes family memebers have bad blood between one another and you may not know about it, but I have to admit that not calling to inquire about a sick family member is pretty cruel.
I don't know, it seems these days like people and their families are getting more and more distant.
I hope at some point they will call.

There is no bad blood between them. The person who isn't feeling well is a sweetheart. Its very upsetting that they haven't called to see how they are. They are very self centered.

Maybe they didn't know what to say. I know I am bad like that. I usually will send cards. But I have a hard time calling someone and saying sorry about the bad news. But I can definitely understand why you might be hurt. But remember you are not responsible for other people's actions just your own and you did the right thing by letting them know.

Sometimes people don't know how to deal with certain things. I'd be upset but you don't know if they really don't care or if it truly is that they don't know what to say or how to react. Sometimes its hard to accept bad news and some people deal with it by pretending it is not happening. Sorry it is upsetting you so much.

Yes, it would definitely annoy me, too! My poor Grandmother has been layed up in the hospital for 17 days now and a bunch of my Mom's cousins, my cousins and my own brother have NOT been to visit her ONCE! I can't even believe that people could be THIS selfish...it breaks my heart, especially b/c my Grandma has been SO generous, loving and supportive of all of them!
