WOW!

WOW!

So I am putting together a comparision spreadsheet of reception places for my friend. She is having her wedding in the Boston or Cape Cod area. Places do not include open bar! You are charged either per each drink or per person per hour!! And hordourves are priced per person or per 50-100 pieces! This is why I am not having my wedding in Maine- too much math involved! And many places say that the bar ahs to close 30 minutes before the end of the wedding. Wow! They make weddings so difficult!

Re: WOW!

My cousins are from MA. I went to a wedding there a couple of years ago and they had a cash bar. Even if I wanted a soda, it came out of my pocket. I am going to another wedding there in June.

ya its crazy!! They make it so hard to have a wedding where you can have an open bar! My sisters wedding in Maine was a hosted bar. my parents were charged for every soda, beer, and drink. They had an accomodating caterer, so their prices for drinks were very good and he cut them a great deal on the wine. But I was pricing out weddings in maine and cape cod for myself and what we wanted was going to run us at least $50,000-$60,000 for the reception alone. So it would have been at least a $70,000 wedding!!

Re: WOW!

I just went to a wedding on Cape Cod in June and they had limited open bar. An hour before the wedding ended, it became cash bar. I usually bring cash to weddings because most I've been to have been cash bar. It's typically a NYC/LI thing to have a full open bar.

WOW! That is insane!! I am trying to help my friend plan, and these places basically take the fun out of it by making there be so many odds and ends you have to account for. We are all very very lucky!!!

Re: WOW!

it's probably things like this that make people NOT from NY have 'smaller' weddings. for instance, my FILs have only been to weddings in their friends' backyards - they've never been to a catering hall or anything, never had to dress up, it was all very casual. and i've heard from a lot of my friends out here (AZ) that weddings are very low-key because NOTHING is included. so people don't have big, massive parties like we do. all i can say is, hooray for NY and i'm sorry for my FIL, who are, quite honestly, terrified over the concept of a big wedding
