We are getting married at the Inn at the East wind. I want a harpist--- a CONCERT harpist in the lobby near the champagne and strawberries so that is the first thing that the guests see when they enter. I also want strings in my CH...... I just got a quote:
harp: 475 for 1hr Strings- 350 per hour per person- I want three
That is almost $1600 for ONE HOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOLY CRAP! does anyone else think that is NUTS!?!?!

i think its expensive - i couldnt see paying that much although it would be beautiful. but if its what you want go for it

That is expensive, but, I think that's what you're going to pay for that....... you can shop around for more prices...... you may even be able to contact a local college or HS and see if they have anyone......

if that's want you want at your wedding you'll find the money to pay for it, but personally i think it's too much. but it would be a really nice touch at your wedding

Its not nuts to have a harpist or a string quart at your CH, but what you got quoted is a little nuts. Search around for a lesser deal.

i'm pretty sure you're quotes are about right.. i mean maybe you can find people for like $100 less.. but that's just what i've seen when i was looking around.
i think it's a really nice touch... and if you really want it.. get it. you don't wanna not get them and look back and regret it.. although your day will be beautiful regardless :)

We have a four piece ( violin, viola, cello, and flute) for 1/2 hour before guests arrive, the 1/2 hour ceremony and cocktail hour. So for 2 hours and 4 people we are paying $1300. I would search around a little more; I think you could get a better deal.

but if I do that what do I have downstairs?
THe harp will be upstairs and the CH downstairs.... I think it may loose some onf the ambiance if I have a CD player in the actual CH!!! lol

if you want it that bad i would choose - if it was me.. i would rather spend the money to have the harpist during the cocktail hour. people will enjoy it more and will get to listen to it for the full hour, if it is just when they walk in , they will hear it then walk to the CH and thats it.

Does your CH room have speakers? If so, you don't need an actual CD player in the room for people to see.....but, you can make a CD of the type of music you want to hear and have it piped in through the speakers in the room using their own sound system....?

i think that price is high, BUT that said, harps aren't easy to travel with so i can understand the mark up, but you can find cheaper definately
