WRITING YOUR OWN VOWS...

WRITING YOUR OWN VOWS...

My FH likes the idea of us writing our own vows. I wasn't planning to do this mainly because I am going to be a nervous wreck, and will more than likely be crying... But I feel so bad..because he really likes the idea of doing this. He's VERY good with words...and I can be..but feel like I'm getting stuck. I don't want to cheat and looke up things to write. Why can't I do this???

It took me awhile to do it too. Finally one night, about a week before the wedding, I just cleared my head and sat down to write. I let anything and everything flow (including some tears) and then formed those ideas into more coherent sentences and phrased them the way I wanted. It's ok to 'cheat' and borrow from the traditional vows a lil, that should give you a good starting ground and then just personalize it from there.

Good luck!!

i agree with cindy. i took the 3 samples from our officiant and stuff i found and stuff i made up....the final result? a very beautiful, unique ceremony that even made the officiant smile!

AWWW...just reading that made me get emotional. There are so many things I can say ...I'm going to take the time to sit down and put them all on paper.

We wrote our own vows. It was so wonderful, I think it really made our ceremony special and unique.
I just wrote what was in my heart. I also looked at some poems and stuff for inspiration.

I really want us to write our own vows but FH doesn't, I think he's just nervous beucase it's hard for him to express his soft side infront of people. I hope I can wear him down!!!
