Written Menu's on Tables?

I am having a black tie wedding, is it customary to have written menus on the tables and should I have one per place setting or per table?

How big should it be? I have tall, cascading center pieces and I don't want the menus to take over the tables.

mine are 5x7..........they are so beautiful!

FH and i are making them as we speak! they have an ivory shimmery cardstock on the bottom and a pink shimmery cardstock on top.....and on the top of the menu is a flat knotted bow.

This is my centerpiece. So, the menu cards were not in competition with my centerpiece...you can kind of see the menu card on top of the butter plate in this photo.

The next one is a close up of the menu card, but this one was taken on my head table

Shea, where did you get your cardstock from?

They are beautiful... I was thinking of making them, but I wasn't sure. I had gone to this place in massapequa and the lady was going to make 5x7 ivory ceramic frames with gold letttering, but I would have 12 of these frames permanently marked with the menu of my wedding. (A bit much) Thanks for the idea! Where would I get these items to make them?

I'm doing one per place setting. Here's what I'm going to try to do--modified for my color scheme, of course because you can never have enough pink

If you are thinking that the table may be too crowded, you could still do one per setting, and have it rolled up and placed directly above the dinner setting and tied with a pretty ribbon and a flower. This is what I am planning on doing.

Good Luck!
