WTH???

WTH???

I get into work this morning and my manager tells me to come in her office and close the door and of course the first thought in my head is 'OK how did I phuck up now' and tracing through everything I've done this past month.

She only says to me 'I'm working on reviews and I'm giving you an 8 because you get the job done well and bring in a lot (I'm in Collections) but you need to work better as a team with Chick #1 & you can't expect Chick #2 to handle everything over 90 days' (Why I didn't get this part, Chick #2 was assigned to specifically handle all accounts over 90 days!!)

So while all the other departments are having half hour long meetings with their managers going over raises, bonuses & such, our department is getting a 2 minute monologue and a number that I can only guess is based on a 1-10 scale.

So WTH am I supposed to think about my job now??!! I'm afraid to ask about bonuses or raises now as a result!!

No matter how bs the review is (and trust me, I feel your pain), I don't hesitate to ask about money. That information is never offered, so I always have to ask. And I do. And I'm usually dissapointed at the result.

Did you get a copy of that review? If not, you should, and make sure it lists the things they asked you to do. If it's not there, send them an email - 'As per our conversation...' kind of thing.

I learned my lesson long ago that anything that is spoken and not backed up in writing may as well have never happened. People change their memory of conversations to suit their current needs. If that chick's responsibility is different than what you were led to expect, your boss should back that up in writing.

Sorry, I'm lecturing. It's just that bells go off in my head when I hear stuff like this!
