WTH? Inside Man Movie, HELP!?

FH & I saw the Inside Man last night & to be honest I was kinda tired & didn't pay super close attention & at the end was like WTH? Can anyone explain what exactly happened at the end?

i saw it too..and i was awake the whole time and still didnt understand it, so i am no help..i thought it was really way too long and im still soo confused as to the entire point of the story, maybe someone else can shed some lite on it

Umm....not sure what part of the movie you need help from, but basically they got away with the hostage situation because there was no 'real' crime committed that Denzel knew of until the very end and he couldn't pinpoint the actual criminals. The Jewish guy, the girl, and the young kid with the attitude were the 'Steves' that played a part in the heist of the diamonds from the security box of Mr. Case. The main 'Steve' hid in the hole that they dug in the Storage room for about a week with the diamonds. When he finally left, he bumped into Denzel on the way out and placed a diamond in his pocket. Denzel figured out that they stole the diamonds when he found it in his pocket. The main 'Steve' put the diamond in Denzel's pocket as a 'I told you so' token and for Denzel to give his girlfriend an engagement ring.

Jodi Foster got lots of money from Mr. Case to make sure the Nazi papers didn't go anywhere, however, the 'Steves' are holding onto it for safekeeping. Denzel still didn't know about the NAzi papers at the end....only Jodi Foster. And Mr. Case decided to keep quiet about the diamonds b/c if he told Denzel, then the Nazi papers would become public. So, basically, the 'Steves' bought Mr. Case's silence about the papers buy stealing his diamonds. Then Mr. Case bought Jodi Foster's silence about the papers with a check.

I really liked this movie!!!

The main 'Steve' never left the building when everyone else did, because he knew he'd get caught because he had the diamonds and the papers.

Throughout the movie, when they showed the steves digging a hole/doing construction, they were actually building a living space for the MAIN Steve. Remember the comment 'now that's a niiiice shithole'

The main steve hid behind the wall for a week, until the bank went back to business as usual.

I find this hard to believe for several reasons:

-in a prominent bank such as that, there are security cameras EVERYWHERE, including storage rooms. The cameras would've caught him emerging from the wall.

-A canine squad is ALWAYS brought in to clear the space in cases like this - to check for bombs, people, etc.

-they built a WALL. You mean to tell me NO ONE smelled the spackle, paint, etc?
