Re: WW, Body for life, or Low Carb???

I did weight watchers once and I did lose 15 lbs, so I know it works. I just hate feeling hungry all the time....

Today is going to be my first day of dieting. I was going to do body for life, but im not sure if that is for me. Then I was going to go back to Atkins and do induction but im not sure eating all that fat is great for me, and then this morning I was thinking about WW. See I am all confused....What do you recommend??

What do you guys recommend eating that would make me feel fuller longer. My problem is really snacking when I am on Weight watchers....Usually in the afternoon and evening when I am watching tv or bumming on the couch.

Thanks,
Scott

I just started WW today but I did Atkins for a long time and lost 27lbs. in 3 months. Im not a big carb person as far as bread and pasta but I wound up feeling dizzy alot and light headed. It also keeps you from using the bathroom regulary(not that anyone really needs to know that)but I think that's a big part of weight loss.

Do WW, its healthier and a lifestyle change.

Well I decided to go with Atkins Induction for the first two weeks...To eat only whole foods and I will see what happens in two weeks.

I may try body for life after induction...I dont think I will go back to WW. I have no problems with not eating bread, pasta, and rice...I still eat carbs but only the healthy carbs....Like Leafy green veggies....

I dont recommend ATKINS I did it last year for almost a month and got so sick from it. Not to be too graphic but I was not able to go to the bathroom for three weeks.

Thats probably because you didnt eat enough veggies. You need to eat vegetables in order to lose weight on Atkins. I think people have the wrong idea of atkins...Its not all about eating as much high fat meats and cheeses that you want. There are limits to the foods that you eat, and you should only eat until you are satisifed, not until you are ready to explode.

I make sure I get my vegetables in. For breakfast have a mushroom, omlette or throw some green veggies in there too...

For lunch, I have a big salad loaded with cucumbers, broccoli, peppers, cauliflower, and some sort of meat, tuna, chicken or hamburger....

For snack, I have a pickle, a few olives or some cheese.....There are so many yummy cheese out there...Or you can have celery....in blue cheese or ranch dressing.....

For dinner....you can have some sort of meat, salad, and veggies....Last night we have chicken Sausage made with parmesan and parsley. Danielle made Mushrooms, garlic, and zucchini stir fry made with chicken broth, and I made spinach made with garlic and oil yummy....Usually we have a big salad made with romaine and gorgonzola cheese...Oil and vinegar...Try not to have Balsamic vinegar though, because it contains sugar....

See if you eat the foods you are supposed to, and try to avoid just eating high fat foods, and also avoid eating the low carb processed foods, you should be ok and not get sick....Also try to take a multi vitamin. I take Carbsmart...and I never get light headed or dizzy.
I recommend reading the Atkins book...I am reading it now and I find it very helpful.

Scott, why do you think this? Body for Life is very simple to follow and it's a healthy way to lose weight and get in shape. You'll be doing something good for your body instead of just yo-yo dieting and following this fad or that fad diet. You're just afraid to committ to it I'm sure because it's unfamiliar to you. Atkins used to be that way but you did the research and got used to it. It'll be the same thing with Body for Life. It takes some work up front but then it becomes habit.

Well I still am considering it. I am doing Atkins for the induction period but I dont believe I am going to stay on Atkins any longer than that

I think maybe you should combine the weight watchers diet, and do the body for life workout?? I'm on weight watchers and I love it....I dont' need to lose too much weight, but I have a horrible time controlling my portions...so this helps a lot and I feel better in the meantime. I'm never hungry...I eat 0 point veggies to snack and always have enough points left to have some sort of dessert or a big dinner (and I only use 22 points)

I was on WW in the past and I did lose weight but I always felt hungry and tired. I believe I was tired from all the carbs and the sugar that WW lets you eat. After doing Atkins for 2 days I already notice that I lost inches, I feel much better, and I am not tired all the time....With Atkins you do not eat white flour products, or anything with sugar in it....

Another good thing about body for life is that you eat 6x a day. I have not felt hungry at all since being on it, and i found after only a few days i have no craving for sugar anymore like i used to.

If you are not going to commit to exercise, however, BFL may not be for you. Its all so individual. And also, I am learning you cannot be a slave to the scale..have to go much more by measurements and clothes fit.

Good luck whatever you decide!

Atkins is good for a quick weight lost. I went on it before my wedding and lost the extra pounds I needed. But I got sick of the food quickly, I felt nautious and dizzy.. I feel its not a good long run diet.. you r body needs carbs, in moderation just like everything else!!!

Re: WW, Atkins people click here

I eat carbs, just the good carbs. If you were getting dizzy you may not of been eating enough veggies..It is important to have tons of green veggies and to also take a Multi vitamin daily. I take Carb Smart one a day.

I never get dizzy on this diet. I also love the fact that you remove Sugar from your diet, that is a plus with Atkins...I dont get any cravings for sugary foods anymore...and in my coffee I can enjoy half and half or heavy Cream and Splenda. That is a big plus.

If excersize is the main part of body for life, then im not sure I could do it. I walk, but I dont lift weights...and from what I am hearing you need to do a total body workout if you are on Body For life.

Not to confuse you even more, but you don't have to eat white flour products on WW. In fact, I have better weight loss when I can stick to whole grains, and I feel better in general. That is the idea behind their new Core program (I still do the points, though)

Re: WW, Atkins people click here

I did Atkins for 3 years and did wonderfully. I wasn't sick or anything. Then I went off (which you are not supposed to do) and don't even ask me what I weigh now..Ick!

And you're right, people don't really know about Atkins ad they do it wrong. Being on Atkins doesn't mean eating all fat.

Weight watchers is supposed to be very good, but I hate diets that cost money.
