WW - BBQ ideas??

As we all know, trying to follow any kind of diet at a BBQ is very difficult!

Does anyone have ideas for WW friendly food to serve at a BBQ?

TIA!

grilled chicken is always good on the bone or cutlets....

as far as sides goes of course a big salad with lots of veggies and FF dressing...

I also like to make a pasta salad - whole wheat pasta, FF Italian dressing, olives, broccoli (any veggies really)

FF SF Jello for dessert

but look on their website they have a ton of recipes and ideas!

Grilled veggies, veggie burgers, light buns or pita (try to find 1-point ones)

Portabello mushrooms on the grill are AWESOME!

Fruit salad

Light beer

Angel food cake with fat-free Cool Whip and berries

Grilled chicken, turkey hot dogs, read the nutrition on hot dog and hamburger buns because they make whole wheat and lite options that will only be a point and others that will be 3 points! Also, fruit salad is great! Jello! Fudgsicles! Hmm I don't know what else.

So I know what I am going to say sounds gross but believe me its great. My WW leader told us about chicken wings you use ketchup and diet coke/pepsi you simmer that and then you put the chicken into the mixture for 30 minutes or so then put it onto the bbq to crisp it up. It tastes like a sweet bbq sauce.

If you need a fun desert try a lemon cake mix with a diet sprite and bake as usual. Top with fat free cool whip. YUMMY.

Turkey dogs only have 45 calories =)

Ok here are my tips and tricks:

Ball Park FF hot dogs - 1 pt
Hebrew National 97% FF hot dogs - 1 pt
Stop & Shop Light Hot Dog and/or Hamburger rolls - 1pt
**this way I can have a 2pt hot dog instead of an 8 point one! **

Use reduced fat or fat free mayo for potato and/or macaroni salad

Extra lean ground beef for burgers
Turkey burgers
Veggie burgers
Chicken burgers

Baked tostitos
Fat free or reduced fat sour cream in dips
Salsa
Veggie platter

Chicken legs marinated in italian dressing then thrown on the grill

Spray butter for corn on the cob

PORTION CONTROL - I ALWAYS use the WW serving spoons at my BBQ's. This way I know I'm measuring my portions, but my guests don't

For dessert:

Brownies made with unsweetened applesauce (instead of eggs and oil)

Angel food cake with fresh strawberries and fat free cool whip - instant strawberry shortcake

Grilled fruits with yogurt dip

Re: WW - BBQ ideas??

I'm bumping this thread because I found this poking around the WW site this afternoon.

Tropical Rainbow Punch:

POINTS® Value: 3
Servings: 8
Preparation Time: 5 min
Cooking Time: 0 min
Level of Difficulty: Easy

Make this refreshing punch for your next backyard party. For a pretty presentation, mix it up in a large serving bowl and float orange slices on top.

Ingredients
4 cup(s) diet ginger ale
4 cup(s) Tropicana Season's Best Orange Pineapple Juice, or other brand
3 cup(s) sorbet
Instructions
Combine ginger ale and juice in a pitcher; stir to mix. Add ice to taste.

Pour 1 cup of juice in each of 8 glasses and top each with a rounded 1/3 cup of sherbert. Yields 1 drink per serving.
Notes
For those adult-only soirees, consider adding a little vodka or gin to the punch for a flavorful kick. (Be sure to account for any extra POINTS values.)
