WW progress question...

WW progress question...

In the last 2 weeks that I have been on WW. I have lost a total of 5 pounds. Is this a slow progress for 2 weeks. I ask because there are so many diets out there where I hear that people are loosing 15-20 pounds in one month. If I lost 5 in 2 weeks and then in another 2 weeks loose another 5 then that will be a total of 10...is that a good progress???

I think that what you lost is a typical amount for WW. the thing is , is that you are doing it the healthy way. There are plenty of diets where you can lose 10 pounds per week, but it is a quick fix, and when you start eating normally again, you will gain it back!

I did the Atkins diet last year, and the day that i gave in and started eating carbs again, i went crazy..i think i made up for all the carbs i didn't eat for those few months..but i gained it all back!

Well I guess that goes for all diets. Of course once you are off them you gain it all back. That sucks though... All that hard work and then the minute you eat again it all comes back. But I guess it does matter on how much you eat. Even now when I eat something that I am not supposed to...I give myself small portions. I do count my points don't get me wrong but if i eat something that I am not sure what the point value is I eat a small portion.

thats all... even if you dont fully stick with it, i think it makes you a little more conscious of what you eat.

You are right.

Whether I count my points or not. One thing I have been doing is limiting my portions. WW has changed the way I eat in a good way. The most important way is that it helps me control my portions.

Have you heard of the website:www.dottisweightlosszone.com?

There is a list of restaurants where it lists points for meals and tonight I am going to the Olive Garden and I printed out the list where it says which entrees are worth how many points. I wonder how acurate this is.

For an apetizer it has minestrone soup for 2pts. then it says 6oz. Does that mean I can have the whole plate of the soup or just a portion of it? and then for penne fra diavolo it says 9 pts. but i'm not sure if thats for the whole dish. If you have heard of this website and give me an opinion that would be great.

hi bedda

i love dotti's weight loss zone!! usually if something is half portion or what not she puts in parentheses, like if you go to applebees and look up the blackened chicken salad you'll see that.

as far as weight loss goes, the rule of thumb is a weight loss of 1-2 lbs a week is the healthiest way to get it off...

weight watchers is only teaching you the right way to eat. they allow you to eat anything you want, as long as you account for it and balance it out with the rest of your week...

my advice to you is to try not and get caught up with how much you lose per week, as what the overall picture is...you've lost 5 lbs!!!! and you'll see that even a .2 loss one week or a 1.2 loss the next week will eventually add up...you just have to patient...besides, time is going to pass no matter what, you might as well take advantage of it and lose some weight in the mean time!!

good luck with it!

Thanks for your advice Azad...You made some very good points.

Now on the menu for Olive Garden she doesnt say whether these dishes are half portion or not like for the minestrone soup she just pust (6oz) then next to penne fra diavolo it just says 9 points so i am confused as to whether I can eat these whole entrees or not.

I guess what you should do is wait and see how much they give you on your plate then judge from there. 6 oz. of soup is probably about the size of a styrofoam coffee cup..and then just use your judgement with meat and pasta.. Have you been going to WW lately? Last week i got the booklet where it shows you how to judge a serving. its pretty helpful!

I've been going but I don't have the booklet with me though. I'll have to do the best I can with my judgement.

Re: WW progress question...

you know what i do..especially if i go out to eat, its hard for me to just eat a regular portion..so i'll either cross off a bunch of flexpoints, or just make the points value more for whatever i'm eating..Even if its not accurate, it makes me feel as though i'm still following the plan. and then you can eat what you want!

You can also ask the server what size the portion is. Sometimes they may not know off hand but they will try to find out.

I have found that this weight lose thing is trial and error. If you loose a lot one week and don't another then you need to figure out what you did different between the weeks. When you figure out the things that help your weight lose stick to it.

I personally try not to look at it as a diet. I call it a life change bc I want to be healthly for the long haul. Calling it a diet makes it sound temporary like after you reach your goal you forget about all the hard work you did. Try not to focus on how much you lose week by week. It will drive you crazy.
