WW question - can you really lose weight with Flex Points?

I signed up for WW Online since my diet buddy (a co-worker) said she's having a great experience with it and she finds the Points system less restrictive than South Beach.

I'm on day 2 and I can't imagine that I'm going to lose weight eating like this (maybe it's a holdover of my South Beach mentality). For example, I had a protein shake (2 points) and a Power Bar (4 points) for breakfast. The Power Bar has 20g of sugar though and 42g of carbs! But it's only 4 points. I generally avoid sugar and most carbs so I'm worried that eating this many will cause me to gain weight. Any advice? Thanks

The first 2 weeks were very difficult for me- I was hungry. When I talked to my meeting leader (I go to meetings) she told me to fill up on more dense foods (I was eating lots of very low point foods). I did lose 5.6 pounds that 1st week though .

A protein shakes and powerbars are not enough to fill you up. For 3 points, you could eat a bowl of oatmeal with blueberries; or egg beaters with lowfat cheese and veggies in a wrap (or on high fiber bread). For 6 points, you can eat LOTS- with the right foods.

I promise- it gets better/easier. WW has really taught me so much about making better food choices and I've maintained a 25 pound weight loss.

Since you've registered online, go to the message boards and ask for ideas- the people on there have a WEALTH of info on what foods will keep you feeling satisfied.

Welcome to the WW crowd- I promise, you'll see results!!

I've been a WW gal for about a year and a half. Since you were previosuly avoiding carbs, initially you might gain a little because your body is holding onto the carbs you're eating. But give it time, once that is done with you will lose weight., Try to avoid sugary foods, but they are certainly allowed if you have the points.

As for carbs, try to stick with high fiber ones like wheat bread and oatmeal. It fills you up and also lowers the points value.

Keep it up and you will see results...trust me! Just make sure you journal EVERYTHING you eat. Good luck!

i've lost 11 lbs in 8 weeks using WW flex points. the key (for me, at least) is to use my points on foods that fill me. LOTS of fruits and veggies and oatmeal, that sorta stuff. and you have to do the exercise too, I'm seeing muscles I never knew existed.

BTW, i've never hit my 'target' and run out of the 35 bonus points by day three each week, and i'm still losing. you can do it, good luck!
