X-mas Ornaments

Where do you go to get your X-mas ornaments?Thi is our first X-mas and I would like to start buying them now. I need ornaments, lights, tree stand, a star for the top of the tree and decorations. I bought some things after X-mas last year but it was just glass balls. Any suggestions of where to go and not spend a lot of money?

Try Michael's for ornaments...check for sales. Drugstores sell lights fairly cheap.

When I first had my own tree, I got a lot of stuff at Kmart. I bought everything in red and all white lights so that the tree had a uniform look. (I find if you decorate using a lot of one thing, it looks more polished and is cheaper).

Even after 5 years, I have so many ornaments b/c i buy them as souvenirs (and gave them as wedding favors and my MOH gave them as bridal shower favors) so they have replaced a lot of the stuff i bought the first year. But the background of red items still keeps the tree looking uniform.

We went a little nuts in Home Goods this weekend. They have some really really beautiful ornaments right now.

My parents have always collected ornaments and growing up I always looked forward to decorating our tree b/c each ornament had some type of special meaning. Especially the ornaments that my grandmother sewed. I love my parents tree and I want all of their ornaments. They have ornamnets that are over 25 years old. I want our X-mas tree to be as special as theirs.

I'm hoping that my mom and dad pass some of the ornaments that they have onto me this year.

Franks Nursery was just starting to put out the Christmas stuff, and most drug stores have things too.

I collect them. I have been since I was a kid. Now whenever I (or shall I say we go on a trip we buy one)

But you can get pretty ones at Fortunoff. Starting from scratch can be pricey. You may want to get 'creative' for your first tree and buy everything on sale the day after christmas!!!

TARGET completely deocrated my first apartment, 6' tree and all and the bill wasn't that bad at all. It was a good start.

How about raiding your parents'/grandparents' collections to get some 'heirloom' pieces going?

What we have been doing is buying an ornament any place we have travelled to.

Also we hit Fortunoff's the day after Christmas & EVERY ornament is 50% off. We got major ornaments last year.

I think I went to Target for a bunch of ornaments for my first tree and filled in empty spaces with bows and candy canes.
