FYI I was going to donate my hair to locks of love but found out they dont necessarily use the hair to make wigs for cancer patients they make wigs that can be bought by anyone. Instead I am planning to use the pantinee hair donation system since all the hair donated to them goes to cancer patients

I had my stepsister do it. She is a hairdresser. All she did was put my hair in a ponytail and cut my hair above the ponytail holder.

I was going to do LOL but now I'm considering Pantene instead, especially since they only require 8'

I don't know how short I really want to go, so if they'll take 8 instead of 10 that helps

I donated to Pantene.. They use your hair for women AND children. (And you only have to donate 8 ins)

I just Vanity in Merrick and it was free of charge

I used Salon due Mila in Merrick.. It wasn't free. The owner is a real ***** though so I wouldn't go there!

I used just my regular stylist.
It was NOT free.
He gave me everything in a plastic ziplock bag, and I mailed it myself.
It felt good to do it, but it hurt to see so much hair being cut off.

if you are going to donate to panten here are the requirements

In order to make the most beautiful, realistic and durable wigs, donated hair must meet the requirements below.
Donated hair must be a minimum of 8 inches long (measure hair from just above the elastic band of the ponytail to the ends).
Wavy/curly hair texture is fine—you may straighten hair to measure.
Hair should be freshly washed and completely dry, without any styling products.
Hair may be colored with vegetable dyes, rinses and semi-permanent dyes. It cannot be bleached, permanently colored or chemically treated.
Hair may not be more than 5 percent gray.
