X-Post- Refund on dress deposit??

Ladies! HELP! I'm not sure if any of you have been in my situation/ know someone that has/ or just know what to do in my case.

I lost my job. I put a $1,300 deposit down on a dress back in February. I can't afford the dress now. Plain and simple. I just can't. I need that money refunded back to me. On my receipt, it says 'ALL SALES ARE FINAL. There are NO returns or exchanges.' Th copy of my receipt isn't signed.

Here's the thing, the manager of the salon admitted to me that they don't place the orders until 5 months before the wedding cause they don't want to store it. I have 15 months before my wedding, so I KNOW for a fact that the order hasn't been placed yet. Do you think they would refund me my money, since technically they aren't losing out on anything since the order hasn't been placed. I'm so scared to lose this money. That's my rent payment right there. I'm soooo uspet.

I really hope I'm wrong, but I really doubt you will get that money back. Its worth asking, you might get lucky, but it would be very surprising. Maybe they would let you sell a credit to the store? You might not get it all back, but at least you can get something.

I'm so sorry this has happened! I also doubt they'll do this for you, but it is worth asking. Tell them what happened... If not, is there anybody at all that can help loan you some $. Its not fun to ask, but I feel so bad that you have to go through this. PS: If you're looking for a job, I know of some openings in some places. If you don't mind, FM me your industry, etc. Sorry if I'm being too personal, but I love helping whenever I can.

If you can't get your money back, try selling your dress? Maybe you can get most of your money back.

It's definitely worth a shot to see if you can get your money back for the dress - maybe if you explain the situation to them they might be a bit more understanding. Good luck!

So sorry to hear you lost your job. It's worth asking. Maybe if you get lucky and explain your situation, they will be understanding and offer you the refund. Good luck!!

So sorry to hear that. Maybe you can sweet talk them into it by saying that you really like them and their services, and that as soon as you get your situation straighten out you will come back to them. Just explain you need the money now...

HTH, good luck.

oh, i'm so sorry to hear this I also think it will be very difficult for you to get the money back, especially ALL of it if it states this on their policy...

I would explain the situation to them...not all business owners are the same and maybe they will have a heart and give you like half back or more since they really aren't losing money!!! at this point they would be getting a few hundred for nothing.

orr if that doesn't work, maybe ask them if you could sell the deposit as 'credit' to another bride? then you can sell the credit for say, 1000 so that another bride save 300? and then the shop can't say they are losing out on anything and you only lose 300...

i'm so sorry! i hope another job comes along soon

annie has some great suggestions. you may also ask if you can have that 'deposit' be applied to another dress that is less expensive. either way you'll need a dress so why not. good luck lady!
