I'm gonna say Sirius, but it's because I know a BUNCH of people who are jocks/ops there.

I've never listened to XM so I can't really say.

XM has Opie & Anthony
Sirius has Howard Stern...ooh and a fun swing band station!

That's all I know and it's only because of Mr. Boots!

All I really care about is who has the best techno since that's all I ever listen to.
DH would want whoever has the best sports crap.

Well, the Program Director at Party 105 out here in Suffolk is one of the people I know at Sirius. He knows his stuff, as far as I know - former Party 105-ers include Vic Latino of KTU fame up here.

I did some research on this before Christmas and came across this comparison .

I don't remember if it mentions anything about techno, but I do remember the review preferred Sirius' sports coverage.

Rachel, it says on their website that they have a techno station but it's only on on Saturdays from 9pm - 9am???? How dumb is that? Do the Party 105ers dj on Sirius?

I have Sirius and I love it. I happen to LOVE techno so the stations on Sirius are for me. Its about what you listen too and what you like. XM dosent have that 'type' of music I like. Its not bad but just research it.
I know if you go to Sirius website you can listen online.

Good luck with your decision

All I know is that the Program Director from 105, Andre, is on Sirius. I have NO idea about Vic Latino.

XM81 - BPM is the best Dance station out there for all your dance needs.

Definitely go XM if you want Dance. Their playlists are much deeper and a lot more modern.

Sirius is way too repetitive for my taste.

This is the perfect example as to why you would NOT want to get Sirius.

I wan't no part of any FM programming-like music on Satellite or any FM bias.

Once you go Satellite... you will NEVER listen to FM again.

It worries me that Clear Channel is an investor in XM...nothing screams 'bland FM programming here!' more than Clear Channel. I'm a little wary of where their relationship will go in the future...

Ignorance as usual.

Party 105 has been responsible for breaking artists who then went on to fare very well on larger stations - The Gorillaz, Tina Ann, Lucas Prata, Jillian, etc.

I can assure you that there is a reason FM is the way it is, and that the programmers of Satellite understand that they're dealing with a different market than they would with FM. They program to that new market.

While I do agree that FM has made some MAJOR mistakes in the direction it has taken, there is some sound reasoning behind it.
