Wow Jen...do you eat a lot of salty things? I wonder if you stay away from things with high sodium, the water makes them low....hmmmm....

I am not as bad as my sister with salt, but I am not shy to it. ketchup, chinese, salt shakers, pretzels/chips, soups, I like salt.
It just seems I drink a lot, so the DR wants me to lay off drinking so much water and go for a blood retest in a few week.

I have been told by nutritionists that too much water isn't good because it washes away nutrients in the body, including sodium. 64-70 ounces is recommended- please, I can barely get that much down!

a friend of mine drinks tons of water every day and his doctor told him not to drink so much because you can damage your kidney because you are making it work too hard. who would ever think you could drink too much water?

I have heard of having too much water but never actually met someone that does. How much do you drink in a day?
My sister is a salt fiend - she used to salt her food and then put some extra salt on the plate to dip her food into for each bite

i've heard of that. maybe if you like drinking alot of water you can counteract it by using more salt on food?

Does excess water consumption also need to be combined with exercise? What I mean is does the chance of kidney damage more likely occur because you are drinking more water and peeing more as opposed to sweating it out?
I remember putting up my mom's fence in the middle of a hot summer day and I must of drank four bottles of water and didn't need to pee once...as opposed to being at the office and drinking the same amount and ending up going every 20 minutes.
So maybe excess water consumption needs to be coupled with exercise to reduce possible kidney damage.
