I am planning on making these flowers. I ordered the supplies yesterday and hopefully with the help of mom and sis we can do it. I want to attach them to the top of the favor box. the favor that we are thinking of using is under the flower
The only thing is you are suppose to do them in odd number 3 or 5 they have a meaning.
Those butterflies are SO cute. I think I want to do the almonds. I remember when my parents used to come home from weddings with them when I was little

FYI: I saw (I am pretty sure) the almonds on clearance at Party City Plus, they had tons of pretty paper boxes with embossed designs...for 10 for $1 or 2

This is the saying I found & plan to use:
Five sugared almonds for each guest to eat To remind us that life is both bitter and sweet. Five wishes for the new husband and wife -- Health, wealth, happiness, children, and a long life!

Re: Poll: How many people are giving out almonds?
We also gave out Sugar Almond Bombonieres as an Italian tradition at our wedding and attached them to our CD favors in an organza bag. We also included the following inside the bag:
'The Sugar Almond Bomboniere is an Italian wedding tradition meant to remind relatives and friends of the happiest moments of our lives. The almonds, with their natural bitterness covered with sugar, symbolize the “bittersweet” life of a married couple. The five almonds represent Health, Wealth, Fertility, Happiness, and Long Life. Thank you for sharing in our very special day! Dina & Phil'
Ours were so yummy- we got them from an Italian store in Glen Cove.

Where is that store in Glen Cove??
I am Italian and FH is Greek and it is tradition in both cultures.
ITALIAN WEDDINGS
Five almonds signify five wishes for the bride and groom: health, wealth, happiness, fertility, and longevity
GREEK WEDDINGS
Sugarcoated almonds in traditional Greek weddings are called *koufetta*. They are placed in little bags in odd numbers and are served on a silver tray. Odd numbers are indivisible, symbolizing how the newlyweds will share everything and remain undivided. Tradition holds that if an unmarried woman puts the almonds under her pillow, she'll dream of her future husband.
MIDDLE EASTERN WEDDINGS
Candy-covered almonds, considered aphrodisiacs, are always on hand

The store where I purchesed my almonds is located in Glen Cove called Tommasina's Fine Linens & Gift 262 Glen St, Glen Cove, NY 11542 Phone: (516) 674-4249
Right next to the Riva Grill - the Italian couple who own the store are wonderful and have everything from the confetti almonds from Italy to unity candles to favors (mikasa, candles, votives, etc.) - good luck!
