Re: ITALY HONEYMOON

Hi I went to Italy on my honeymoon. As far as getting cheap rates, it will be hard, since you are going during peak tour time and the $$ is taking a beating. Although, I do have a very good reccomendation for a well priced hotel in Rome. We went to Verona, Venice, Florence, Rome and Capri. It was so amazing. FM me with any questions.

Will this be your first time in Italy? If so you may want to hit the major spots - Florence, Venice and Rome. The Amalfi Coast is gorgeous and romantic and so is Tuscany.

Re: ITALY HONEYMOON

I second and third, if this is your first time to Italy hit the big places--Venice, Florence and Rome. If you go to Florence you should also check out Siena and Pisa.

Other areas of interest that are great is the Lombard/Lake region outside of Milano. There Lago Maggiore and Lago Como. Really beautiful areas--13th century castles, mountains..you are within driving distance of Switzerland.

As for cheap travel, I highly recommend taking the Italian inter-state and inter-city trains. They do take a bit of time, but the scenery on your trip is great. My FI and I took the train from Milano to Genoa and then from Genoa to Nice, France. From Genoa to Nice the train ride was entirely along the Mediterranean coast. It was incredible.

Re: ITALY HONEYMOON

The first time I went to Italy I went for two weeks and did three cities--Venice, Rome and Florence. Factor in two days for traveling--one day for getting there and one day for departure, and then two days for traveling imbetween cities and that gives you ten days, 3 days in each city which will give you just enough time to see many of the sites, but not everything. If you are there during the tourist season, it will take you some time to get through certain sites. For example, if you go to Rome and you want to go to Vatican City, that may take up more than half of your day.

Are you and your FH thinking of going with a tour group or on your own?
