I highly recommend the book: Home Buying for Dummies. It helped me alot to understand the home-buying process.

i am in the same boat. My husband and I were talking and we realized we have to make ourselves knowledgable of the homebuying lingo- we have no clue!!! im also going to buy the book and teach myself!

I used the book hime buying dor dummies also. My sister gave it to me. I am still in the middle of my first homebuying process so until its over and I see how it went overall I do not think I know enough to start giving tips.
