Did you get them yet? I would check if they would let you use them b4 you buy. My mom owned a charterboat and we had very strict rules about what was allowed for parties. Even if the bride bought it to the boat we would not allow it. There were times we even had to take down florist decorations because they weren't 'allowed'.

Re: so what could the church do
my church is the same way. I tried everything. I even called the Diocese and explained to them that the Cardinal is marrying us and they said no way(I thought name dropping would work but they are like getting blood from a stone !!!.) It has to do with lawsuits I was told.

Re: so what could the church do
ok this is what my church listed in its material..
' Throwing rice or other items' 'while it is traditional to throw rice after a wedding, we ask you to consider that the rice, which will remain on the sidewalk and steps of the church is harmful to birds and hazardous to those walking by, especially the elderly. Also other popular choices, such as birdseed, confettei, and flower petals can be equally dangerous. As an alternative please consider using bubbles or ringing small bells'
now it says 'consider'... the priest told us definetly no rice, but didnt say anything specifically about the rosepetals....

Re: so what could the church do
We were told that its is frowned uppon but if we REALLY have our hearts set on it then its ok.. if the church REALLY DIDNT want it ... I wouldnt do it.. thats very disrespectful IMO. Can you ask them if its ok if you hire someone to clean it up right afterwards? I am giving them a little extra $$ for the clean up guy.

Those are very pretty! I don't know what the Church could do but I know that I asked about throwing rose petals inside and I was told no... BUT he did say we could do them outside.. I would ask again... it couldn't hurt

Re: so what could the church do
Bring brooms and have the ushers sweep them off the steps and ground.
Churches don't like having stuff thrown because others can slip and fall and sue the Church.
If people didn't sue anything that wasn't nailed down, then Churches wouldn't feel threatened against lawsuits and would relax their rules.
Trust me, my Church won't allow anything to be tossed either.
But I understand their reasoning.
ps: I would talk to the Church again about it and maybe you can pay the janitor to sweep after they are tossed. They are lovely, would be a shame not to use them.

Re: so what could the church do
Honestly, our priest told us that we couldn't have petals thrown in the church by the FG's and the same restrictions as you had for outside after the ceremony. He said, but 'he didn't tell us' that if we do it, there's nothing they can do about it afterwards so do what we want. but HE DIDN'T TELL US THAT! I would go for them. You're not really breaking their rules!

In my church we are not allowed to throw the rose petals inside but outside we can do whatever we want
