is this going to be a legal apt?? if so at least $1000 to $1200.

Also, when you are renting, make sure you specify if you will take a family and/or pets.

Make sure you get approved to rent your basement.

My mother had a friend that had to tear her basement apart to avoid a lawsuit. This was after they spent thousands of dollars fixing it up.

No it can't be legal, since it is in a basement, no basement apts are legal.

My advice would be to make it a king sized 1 bedroom-so you won't even have people with kids look at it. Any time you have a bathroom in a basement you need a sewer ejector pump & they are not designed to pump out more than what 1 or 2 people would use.
You will get $950-$1000 in Bohemia for an extra large 1 bedroom anyway.

my sister lived in the bottom part of a high ranch...it wasn't legal and when they refinanced or reassessed their taxes (I forget which one) they just took out the stove and sink and said it was an extra room

I would actually think around $1K for that area but could be wrong.

My SIL pays $850 for a 2brm in Holbrook - but she knows the owner of the house.

if everything was brand new you could probably get more.

I think you are not allowed to have a stove without it being a legal apartment.

$900 is very cheap.

Personally, I wouldn't rent to friends but that's just me.. it always presents a problem..

as for how much, you have to remember that it is a basement apt. I think that the max you can go is $1,000... that is unless your friends that you want to live there will pay for $1,200..

Also, to do the actual apartment.. does it need to be finished? or is it to dig up and put in a separate entrance?
