Grab bag (generally speaking)
It's a general gift you buy and 'bag' or wrap up with no one specific assigned to it. Then those who bring a gift get to choose or 'grab' a bag from the group. YOu get whats inside.

Odd that so many haven't heard of this.

why not do ti where whoever wants to participate can....and if you want to - bring a gift. then the ones who were able to get one can exchange and the ones that didn't can stare and drool....kidding!!!

I'm in, i think...i mean i know it will be fun. If you dont want to bring a gift you dont have to, so dont feel pressured. Only those who bring one will pick a gift.
I already have so many cute and practical ideas!!!
