Re: Need apartment, condo, co-op!

I would doubt highly you are going to get a 2 br under 1000 anywhere

Re: Need apartment, condo, co-op!

We just got a 1 BR for 1050 in N. Massapequa! We wanted to stay under 1000 also but there are a lot of extras with this place so it was worth the extra 50!

Keep trying the pennysaver! Something will come up you just have to jump as soon as you get it! THe good ones fly fast!

When we were looking we saw a co-op in Bellmore...one bedroom very small and that was $1000...you're going to have tough time finding a 2 bedroom.

sounds unlikely, but not impossible

Well, a condo or co-op probably would not be doable for that unless you buy in cash and then are just talking about monthly fees. You could probably get a basement apt. for around that--I know friends paying less than 1,000 for a basement, but they are cramped with no windows...

You can absolutely forget a 2br at that price... unless there is another couple living in the other bedroom.

yeah, don't get me wrong, I'd take a 1 bedroom!!!

I think i would stay looking at the 1 bedroooms but it probably won't be in a condo or co-op. If i was to rent out my condo the average price is 1400...for a 1 bedroom!

I would think you would have to look more at the apartments in basements or other parts of privately owned house. They usually range from 850 and up. BUT they might also charge higher if 2 people live there! When i looked about 3 years ago, OMG i got turned away just because i would have a boyfriend over 2-3 times a week.

This is exactly why I do not see a 'housing bubble bursting' anytime soon. Rents have gotten so insane and there isn't anything people can do. You need a place to live. Since rents are outrageous... people are going the buy route and buying beyond their means... driving housing prices up.

Its a no-win situation (except for the owners/sellers out there).

Eventually when I move out of my current 2br co-op in Bayside... I plan on renting it out and have somebody pay my mortgage. :D $1400 to start for rent. Maybe $1450 by the time I intend to move out (3 years from now).
