I would get the breast cancer awareness ribbon- I associate that with strength.

Hmmm I cant think of anything in particular but anything you find as a symbol of strength is. My mom has a rose. To most people its just a rose but she got it after her mother passed away and also got the stem in the shape of a 'J' because my dad's name is John.

Dragons & Phoenix
Dragons are obvious to me, but a Phoenix is both beautiful and strong to be born from fire if you follow the folklore.

I also think of Lions when I think of strength.

Other things:
Swords, celtic knots
Oh and tress (i like the idea of rooted and strong against time and weather)
