The worst thing was that I tried to get him back. I wrote cards, sent him photos... extremely pathetic considering that, in retrospect, he was an A$$.

I don't think what you did is that horrible.
I think leaving him the gift was a thoughtful gesture, whether it was before or after the message and it says a lot about you as a person.
the fact that he's behaving like this says a lot about him as a person as well!
i think you're obviously better off without him, and you did everything you could have done to work this out, so you have no regrets.

Wat you did was noraml.
I was a mess wwhen my boyfriend broke up with me in college.
I would leave drunk messages but his rooamte would usually think they were form soem drunk friend of his & woudl erase them. We tried to stay friends, but he was eeign other peopel & when I'd see them I was always so mean to the girl.
I would fight in public with him about every other week ( AFTER we broke up, never when we were together) I left a HUGE nasty ote on his apt. door for every one to see ( he had 5 roomates too!)
& a lot of self destructive stuff. There is probably more I can't recall.
It was bad. We are friends now though.

Don't be so hard on yourself.
The WORST thing I ever did to a guy after he dumped me was trash his house, tell his new GF that he had been with me seriously not like a ‘friend’ as he had told her and he also ended up getting arrested that night.
He spent one year in anger management and $5000 in legal fees and a bit of time in jail.
Odd thing is, we are ok with each other these days. But all in all that has to be the WORST I’ve ever been. To my defense I was drunk and he had cheated on me for the ‘last time’.

i also had a friend in college who, when her boyfriend broke up with her, hounded him endlessly, even after he told her that he pretty much wanted nothing to do with her...she would go to his room every chance she got and force him to sit and 'discuss' why they had to break up. she wouldn't let it go.....
it finally got to the point that he just sat there, covered his ears and said 'i can't hear you' over and over again until she left.
at the time, i thought he was childish at the time....but looking back, she really left him no choice!

The thing is...I honestly had a huge crush on my ex-boyfriend's best friend, even before I dated my ex-boyfriend.
However, I did get a lot of pleasure from the relationship knowing that it was 'killing' my ex to see us together. It almost ruined their friendship.

I've never had anyone break up with me b/c I as usually doing the dumping, but I did have one b/f piss me off big time (too bad I can't remember what it was that he did now! ![]()
) I came very close to putting a gay pride bumper sticker on his car as well as getting him subscriptions to a bunch of gay mens' magazines, but I resisted. ![]()

As females, we tend to take things more to heart I think and I believe we have all had moments where we lost our head and did things that we lived to regret. Lord knows I have PLENTY (pathetically running after someone as they drove off, leaving notes/roses on their cars, etc.). You should never feel bad/ashamed that you 'felt' something and acted on it. He's the jerk who let you get away (and with lame excuses to boot). Sounds like a coward to me and certainly not man enough for you! If he had no reaction to your heartfelt offering, then say adios to him and don't look back.

I cant even TELL you the things I've done...worse in the past but humiliating none the less...those drunken calls..yep been there! Called someones house like 5 times at 3am when he still lived at home! OH BOY! HANG IN THERE! No big deal , you are MUCH BETTER OFF!
