Re: Spinoff to having kids

I would go out of my mind if I couldn't work.. I know this from having been unemployed after getting laid off a while back--

Thankfully, I work in an industry that has a lot of women, and telecommuting is def an option.

It really depends on how I feel AFTER having kids... I may feel totally different.

I want to work, but not full time. I hope to be a nurse by the time I have kids, maybe I can do the three 12 hour shifts and be home with the kids for 4 days or if my FH is making a lot of money I will work p/t. But I cqan't just stay home I will go crazy!

Weve already agreed that when we have kids I will stay home until they are old enough to go to school full time....I'm a teacher so once they go, it works in my schedule for me to go and just pick them up when I'm done.

I think im just more old fashioned- I Love housekeeping and cooking and staying home so I cant wait to be a full time mom- I dont wanna miss a thing but hope that my FH will have the chance to see the important moments too

I will continue to work, I may take the 1st year off. I am a teacher, so the scheduling isn't too bad. Plus FH can always switch shifts and work nights, to be home with the baby during the day. I do not want to leave my child in a daycare.

One of my BMs is a nurse and she does this - it works out great for her. She also only has to work one weekend a month or every 6 weeks (something like that).

As for me.... I have no clue yet.

FI and I only want one child. I will be a psychologist within the next year. So I plan on having a private practice.

I want to be able to stay home until my kids go to school. I'm also a teacher, so that will work out perfectly :) I may tutor or something as they get toward the pre-school years in order to make a little extra money.

Re: Spinoff to having kids

We cannot afford for me to stay home, and most of my friends with kids cannot either, it's very hard on LI - BUT the two friends I have who stay home do not have husbands who make a lot of money - they bought their homes years ago before the home prices became insane so the mortgage is less - so they just live on the husband's salary and don't save money
