This really depends on how much you plan on spending. The homeowners insurance is the big question mark cause thats dependant on the size and value of your house.

It may be all be doable for $1000.... but there is no way to definitely tell without specifics

It really does depend on your taxes. Homeowners insurance is low for condos- I live in CA which is comporable to NY rates for insurance and my condo insurance is 327 for the year. You utilities shouldn't be much higher if than if you lived in an apartment so all that's left is your monthly association dues which you should know when you look at the property.

I answered this on NWR--oct.2004bride, do you have sewer charges? I just got my first one.

Does your total include the mortgage as well? A $120,000 mortgage will run about $700 a month. Depending on how much your mortgage will be you could end up paying much more than $1000 when you inlcude all the other extras.
Then you inlcude monthly assessments and taxes and insurance.
Our assessment is about $200 a month. Taxes will vary depending on the size and location of your condo. Out taxes in Chicago tend to be kind of high. Utilities should be similar to living in an apartment.
