Don't worry - practice makes perfect

I hated my admissions essay and by the time I graduated I was writing masterpieces! LOL

You will write a great essay - just relax and let the thoughts flow. Sometimes I get an epiphany and write it down....go back to it later.....get an idea here and there....and then tie it all together (usually about 10 rewrites...LOL) but it's doable!

do what i tell my students - plan it out in advance......then write a draft. find your focus...it will develop whether you like it or not.
after you write a draft, set it aside for a day or two, then go back to it and re-read it to see what you wrote.
eventually, it will come to you what you want to say.
if you can't decide which education route to go, go general instead of specific
good luck!!

if you need a proofreader.....i'm available!

I felt the same way but once you start writing your thoughts will flow, getting started is the hardest.

BUT, I have faith in you...from your last few posts about school this is somethign youreally want to do. I know the words will come

I hate writing those too- just try to be as honest as possible, make them see that you are passionate- that's what they like..

I totally understand what you're going through! I'm working on my clinical psychology internship applications. First essay is a personal statement. In the second one, we have to describe our theoretical orientation, which I'm not sure yet. The next one is discussing diversity - our experience with diverse clients and how it informs our treatment. The fourth is about my research experience, which is sorely lacking. FINALLY, the 5th is about why I feel I'm a good match for the site I'm applying to. I'm applying to 20 sites!! That's 20 different essays for #5!!!

Try to outline your thoughts first. Write a really rough draft and see if it expresses what you want the admissions committee to know about you. Take a break, then return to it and edit it. Whenever you get writers block, step back, take a break, and return to it later.

Good luck!!! I'm here if you wanna b*tch to someone about essays...I'll be doing the same.

ok...I want to be a P.E. teacher

Under Education there are 3 sections. I am asuming I am #3
1. adolescent education
2. childhood education
or
3. Physical and Health Education

But there are questions under the education section:
What experiences/people have shaped your views on learning and growth?
What draws you to teaching?
What will you value as a teacher?
If there is any aspects of your background that would indicate leadership
skills or contribute to the desired diversity of your program, please indicate.

And then the following 2 under the physical health:
1. Present a brief statement of your reasons for embarking on a program of
graduate study in your major field.
2. Do you believe that your college grades accurately reflect your academic
capabilities? Why?

I am confused??!!! Do address both sections?

Sounds like do all of them...

I hated admissions essays!!! The best advice I ever got was to write a first draft, then highlight every piece of information that could be said about someone other than you, then rewrite is so that the information is unique to you and you stand out as an individual. I guess the point is to make yourself stand out from the rest, include specific information rather than 'I want to be a lawyer because my family says I'm good at arguing' or 'I want to be a teacher because I love children.' Hope that helps!!

Jenny, (or anyone else writing an admissions essay, for that matter)
I do this all day long....i've corrected at least 200 essays since the beginning of september.....I'm an English teacher, obviously.
So seriously, if you want me to reivew it and make suggestions / corrections, i'd be more than happy to help you out.
once you get one draft done, the revisions should be easier!
