ignore her.

hmmm...you could speak with xxx and suggest that it may be more efficient for the three of you to rotate attendance and see if xxx agrees with your efficient idea.

Just do it before your mean co-worker does.

Hmmmm...sounds like she just wants to be the one to know EVERYTHING that happens throughotu the entire company.

Tranlsation = there's a lot of gossip that goes on at those meetings and I'm not going to give up hearing it first hand

I think she was very snotty. But I also think it's worth bringing it up with your boss. I wouldn't be so quick to say I'm sorry to her if I were you. You made a very valid point and there is no reason for her to shoot you down like that. Your boss may think it's a great way for you to share the burden of gathering information. AND, it doesn't have to mean whoever attends the meeting has to spend a lot of time briefing those who don't. the one who attends should just take notes while in the meeting and it's up to those who did not go to get the information from her.

The only thing I would do is make sure she understands that you were suggesting a ROTATION. It could be that she thinks you were trying to get out of it.

By no means! I agree with lilacwine.
I would ignore her also.

BTW: you can send some of your work over to me. I sit at my desk 3/4 of the day with nothing and I mean nothing to do. I'd be happy to help.

Do you need permission from anyone not to go? Maybe that's what she's thinking? Since she's new I would think she'd be afraid of not attending a meeting, even if your boss wasn't there. It just looks good too to become as involved as possible in the company and learn things outside of your realm. If she wants to take on the extra workload, let her!

As far as the response being snotty....well, some people aren't as tactful as others and they're not afraid of saying what they really feel. I think that's all she's doing. I wouldn't let this bother you too much.

I agree. And I wouldn't respond to her last E-mail. I don't think you said anything wrong in your e-mails and she did sort of jump down your throat right away. I can see where she might be afraid to ditch a work responsibility, espcially being new, but that's no reason to answer you the way she did.

Thanks ladies... I usually just ignore her but I'm just getting sick of the uncalled for attitude. Anniegrl, I hear what you are saying, but tactful or not, she could have been a little more pleasant I think - this girl is plesant and friendly with everyone BUT me...... For some reason, I just rub her the wrong way or something, I don't know - but I do notice that I am the only person she speaks to in this patronizing manner......

Ah, after hearing that then yes I would say she's a beotch!

Who says 'I, for one' and 'Furthermore' in a casual conversation/email with a co-worker?

She sounds like a real joy. I agree...ignore her as much as possible. Your email sounded completely reasonable.

she totally sounds like a bizatch- however -
be careful with her. if you make it look like you dont want to attend these meetings she may tell your superior that you are less interested or lazy- im not saying you are, but this girl now has fuel againt you if she ever wants to make you look bad. just watch what you say to her. who knows if she is bcc'ing anyone- know what i mean?

no i didnt get that feeling at all. but it sounds like this girl is out to get you. i just think you should be careful in what you say to her- i can imagine her at her review saying 'bluegirl doesnt think we should all go to the meetings but i told her that it is important that we all go' or some c rap like that

see i think the worst of people - just be careful what you put in writing to her. i think your email sounded very reasonaable but this girl soulds like the type of bi tch to twist your words.

If possible, I would def. try and sneak an Ex-Lax in her Diet Coke--It sounds like she needs the extra push!

She sounds pretentious and full of herself. She sounds like she takes herself too seriously and needs to relax.

I remember someone who I worked with like that. She was a total intellectual snob. She looked down on those who didn't listen to NPR or go to art films. Anything mainstream was below her. She went to all of the meetings and took perfect notes in pretty penmanship. Argh!!

I hope she gets what she deserves. She needs to chill out!
