Well I know my friend was able to take them to bring to her wedding reception to put at the base of her and her DH's table. So I just always assumed that you COULD take them. I never really thought of whether or not the church would care if you took them. I wouldn't stress about it - plus you said no one knows you didn't ask right?

If I were you, and this is JMO, I would make a nice donation 'in memory of...', send a note to her children and forget about it!! What's done is done...besides, it is not that big of a deal...at least someone was enjoying the flowers!

Sue, I think you absolutely did the right thing. They had no right to ask you that. The flowers should have stayed in church, and even if not, they were YOUR wedding flowers..not for another purpose.

My church said the flowers were a donation. I wouldn't feel guilty!

I think they put you in a spot by asking. It would've been different if someone else suggested you do it or if you thought of it yourself and offered them up. But if it were me, I probably would have let them take the flowers. But that's after making sure that they church would let you take them because alot of them don't. I don't think you have anything to feel guilty about now though.

Wouldn't they be wilted by then?? I think it was rude of them to ask in the first place though

My gut reaction was that I wouldn't want my wedding flowers used for a memorial..maybe b/c my family is a bit superstitious and doesn't like to mix the positive with the negative. I don't know the protocol for flowers and churches at all though!

Re: hmmm...was this wrong? long
Personally, I would NEVER ask a bride and groom to use their wedding flowers for a funeral type ceremony .......- If someone asked me if they could have them, for as much as I'd think it was rude, I wouldn't be able to say 'no' - And BTW, I am SO taking my flowers from church and bringing them to the reception hall - That Church is not getting one more dime out of me !!!
