I'm doing JH dresses too. I think their dresses are about $180 but with tax and alterations, well you know.

Wow, I never heard that rule of thumb before. I mean I understand that it's a lot of $$, but when people say yes to be a BM they should take the dress buying and all the other expenses into consideration. Like I don't expect people to cover their plate cost for my wedding, it would be nice if they do, but I am just happy that they are coming to celebrate with me.

I say $150 will get a very NICE gift. Sheez, with $150 their gift can look like $240.

I originally planned on doing $30/BM but I think their gifts came up to about $35 or $40. Since I got everything on sale, it would have been like $80 if everything was full price. I hope they like it though. Your BM should be very happy they have you.

Thanks! Yeah the dress we picked was $208 plus they wanted matte taffeta so that was the extra charge

i spent 150 on my bm and 175 on my moh and was very happy with what i got them. i think 240 is too much especially if you're on a budget

We're doing matte taffetta too! What color are you doing? I'm doing capri.

The girls dresses for my wedding was about 175 each. In total I've probably spent about 100 each plus a luttle extra on my MOH and I think I've gone above and beyond.

150 is fine!!!!!!! Not cheap at all

I've never heard of that - maybe she made it up in hopes of getting a nice gift from you?!

But really, how will they know how much you spent on them unless you tell them? I wouldn't worry - you have SOOOO many expenses, $150 on gifts for each is very generous.
