overstock has 800 thread count on sale for something like $60 I think.

T300 will be soft - be sure to get 100% cotton - egyption cotton is the softest, but will be more pricey and tends to pill faster than regular cotton (pilling are those little balls you get all over after you wash sheets or sweaters).

Hope this helps.

I guess anywhere from 200-400 then. BB&B has good deals sometimes.

We have these Jersey sheets from Bed Bath and Beyond , they are so comfy.

Do the jersey sheets stretch out?

Not that I have noticed. I've had them since October and probably have used them once a month since I got them.

300-400 is a safe bet. My mom didn't know about thread count, and recently found out that the higher the thread count, the better the quality! So she was in BBB and was like OMG, these feel like marshmallows! Did you know about thread count? I was like, of course! She's too funny...

Well, I usually don't like to go under 400 thread count, but I recently bought two sheet sets (king size) at Bed Bath B. because they were having a big sale plus I always get those 20% off coupons. So I went there and I got one set of sheets that were extremely soft but they were 320 count cotton sateen, I was very surprised that they were sooo soft and the whole set, was only $52, then I went back to get more and checked in their clearance section and saw a gorgous Hotel 600 count cotton sateen set for the same price....I was so excited. Well to be honest, the 320 count is actually softer, I think it's because the way they prepare the cotton, but the 600 count is meant to be smoother (like hotel sheets)....so I guess you just have to feel them before you buy to judge.

I was in Marshalls today (no surprise there, right?) and they had TONS of 360 thread count egyptian cotton king sized sheet sets on clearance for $37, normally $60. the retail price on them said $200

I bought a set for my parents, but didn't know anyone else w/ a king sized bed.

(This was the Marshalls in the Big H shopping ctr in Huntington if anyone's interested.)

200 or 250 minimum

Definitly! I wouldn't go lower than 200. If it's for your registry, go for the big numbers
