I would probably let her bring someone since she's coming from out of state.

Tell her you list is really tight and you're sorry but you just can't accommodate other guests.

Since she is my FH's friend, he was thinking of telling her that right now we are way over on numbers but if that changes then she can come...... Is that bad?

Tell her than space is tight, and that you will let her know later if you there is room.

I would tell her now that she can't, otherwise telling her you'll get back to her, means you'll have to follow up.

Let her know that you're terribly sorry, but you simply do not have the space.

Re: What do you do....

This is happening to us too.

One of the GM wife is pregnant so she won't be making the trip from out of state. The GM asked FH if his brother could come instead. FH told him yes which I was fine with b/c they all grew up together and FH knows the brother. But I told FH that if it happens again, and you don't really know the person then tell them no. We're paying too much money to have people we don't know at our wedding. Plus I want to keep it on the smaller side.

Re: What do you do....

Totally know what you mean... At least if we know the person I might think about it...but why do people think it's their right to bring a friend to a wedding. All those who have SO have been invited with guests and all of our OOT people have been invited with guests as well if we knew they wouldn't know people there.

I know that this is the first 'east coast' wedding for most of these people and they don't really understand what goes into planning it and how formal it will be. One person already said to us, 'It's just another chair.'

I'm interested to see what other OOT guests (mostly from MN and TX) say to us before the wedding.
