I actually don't like when they say 'Mr. and Mrs. NewLastName' so I had my DJ say 'FirstNameBride and FirstNameGroom NewLastName'...it's your wedding, your way...if you don't want your last name mentioned it doesn't have to be!

We had no announcement like that b/c I also did not change my name. They said welcome the new Mr. & Mrs. Not my top choice, but we unfortunately did not think about it ahead of time so we came up with it in the hallway as the BP was lined up.

I think there is nothing wrong with them saying 'The couple of the day.... Jack and Jill'. You'll be in a room with your closest friends and family. I don't think your last name(s) need to be mentioned at all.
I'm thinking about not changing my name. Are you getting a lot of crap about it?

I agree-you are going to be in a room with family and friends and your last name isnt THAT important-Ithink they do that as almost a first announcement as Mr and Mrs in public

I'm not changing my name. FH has a nickname that all our friends know. So, even though I won't technically be changing my name, we are being introduced as Mr. and Mrs (Nickname). My niece and nephew will be rolling on the floor!!!

That sounds like the best option IMO. I am taking my FH's last name. I just hope the bandleader doesn't botch up the pronunciation!

I didn't change my name, and we weren't announced at the reception at all (not because of that, we just didn't want it.) However, when the priest announced us as newlyweds at the church, he just used our first names. I don't think anyone even noticed.

I already told FH I don't want this... just because I am married doesn't mean I don't exist anymore!! So we are going to do His first name AND my first name Last Name.

I am hyphenating my name, but I guess for me its not all that important to be called by my hyphenated name during announcements... if you dont want the dj to announce you that way- the ladies above had some good suggestions
