So, we've all seen the traffic in Houston. My aunt and uncle are even mixed up in that mess right now.

If I Cat 4 was bearing down on LI, all the bridges and tunnels were closed/completely backed up and you had to evacuate your town, where on LI would you go?

DH's father has a boat, so we could take the boat and go somewhere... But I'm sure my mom wouldn't leave without my grandma, who lives in Queens, and I would feel bad leaving without them. My brother lives in Philadelphia, so we could stay with him, or at my dad's in Poughkeepsie. Actually my mom would never stay at my dad's....Probably a hotel someplace...

My uncles house in Garden City, if he would let us. They had an article in Newsday not long ago that said the water on the south shore would come way up, to just south of Garden City. I'd go somewhere in the middle of the island if I couldn't get off - to higher ground.

Re: Evacuation

This is what I was trying to say when there was a thread about people complaining about the people who didn't leave New Orleans. It's not always that easy!

I don't know what we would do.

I guess if it's only the south shore I would be OK because I am smack in the middle of the island... In which case I would invite everyone over!
