I have to credit FMIL with introducing me to latkes, one of my food obsessions. I'd never had them before I met FH and he knew that I was going to miss them this week since we're not seeing her...

I returned from the gym to find a cloud of smoke in the apartment. From the doorway I said, 'FH, did you turn the fan on over the stove?' He switched the fan on immediately, like he'd been doing something wrong. And then I walked into the kitchen.

Where is the Land of Latkes, you ask?
Why, it's in my apartment. There is latke in the sink, latke on the floor, latke on the walls, raw latke in bowls all over the kitchen. And yes, there is a little bit left for the pan. (I checked the bedroom and it survived the latke bomb).

My eyes are burning from the smoke and luckily the smoke detector is ignoring it for now. But my sweetheart FH knew that this Italian girl was going to miss her latkes and I just felt like sharing with that everyone.

And for the record - they're pretty good!

I love latkes! Im Polish and we have those in our food tradition as well...love them love them!

A lot of our food comes from the Jewish tradition since Poland was and still is highly populated by Jewish people...I love it! What about the jelly donuts? Arent those THE BEST?!

eating jelly donuts started as an israeli custom. in hebrew they're called sufganyot.

it's all about the oil...

i like my latkes w/ applesauce. how about you gals?
applesauce or sour cream?

Sorry...I start WW on Tuesday so you know Im stuffing my face with all that good stuff!

it's perfectly ok! as long as the latkes were fried in lots of oil, u're in good shape!
