You can always vent

that is what we are all here for..to support each other. I am not in your situation because we are paying for the wedding ourselves but maybe this will help. Just because they are paying for the wedding does not give anyone a right to upset you like this. It is unfair but very common. Maybe you need to speak with her. There might be a miscommunication between you both. That happens a lot in families. Maybe she feels that her opinion is not very important to you. I think you need to tell her how much you love her and how much you want her to help you. But that also, you have an idea of what you want for your wedding so you hope that she will respect that vision too. Ask her straight out, 'Do you want to go look at XX with me this weekend?' If she says 'No' then simply say 'okay, we are going. I'll tell you all about it'. Also, don't ask her about everything, instead tell her what you want. Just say,'Mom we found a hall that we really love and are going to book. It is everything we had dreamed of'. That does not really open itself up for too much discussion. I think all engagements should include a large handbook on dealing with parents. My parents wanted to invite a bunch of their friends. So I comprimised. They can invite them, but they have to pay for them. I didn't ask them if they liked the idea. I just told them that this was the answer to the problem. That approach seems to be working. I hope I helped a bit. Don't worry,,this too shall pass.
