Re: Would You
I coudlnt do it, too risky to me.
what if they do get booked and you can't find anything else??
I am to neurotic to not have everything planned way early, but if you can do it go for it.
You may have trouble getting vendors - I have been to places that are booking for late 07 already.
good luck with whatever you decide!

Re: Would You
We planned our wedding in a short time. We benefited from discounts and I had no problem getting all my dream vendors.

Re: Would You
I could never do that. That would have me on the edge of my seat for months and i like to plan ahead!
The videographer i once wanted didn't book weddings until 6 months prior to your date. That was too risky for me. I like to play it safe.

Re: Would You
I wouldn't do it. It sounds like they're holding out for a bigger party which means more money for them. I wouldn't book with them just for the fact that they are treating you like you're second class because your wedding is small. My wedding is small also about 75 guests and I've heard a lot of the same. Some halls want to put me in a tiny room or their cocktail room where all my guets will be cramped and uncomfortable. However all halls are not the same. One hall offered me their larger room that seats up to 120 when I told them I didn't like the tiny room. They explained how they would use tables of 8 so we'd have more tables and how they would set them up diagonally so it looks like more people are present. You should look for a hall that wants to make you happy, not one that only cares about making money.

Re: Would You
I wouldn't - only bc I'd be scared that I wouldnt be able to plan everything in time ... but then again Im used to BIG parties - not small - my e-party alone is 125ppl and the more I wanna cut down - the more I 4get someone ... its not easy having a big fat italian family!!
but - if you feel comfortable abt planning 4 mths in advance - then do it ... its nice to save $$ that way!! and you can arrange all the little details way ahead of time ...
good luck!

Re: Would You
Planning 4 months in advacnce wouldnt bother but what if you can't get that hall...would you be fine settling for something else.
There are many people who plan weddings in 3 months so dont worry about that.

Re: Would You
This is a toughie.
I'd continue to check in with the hall and see what the status of your date is. If they book for a larger party, there's a good chance they will give you more than 4-6 months notice, that's just the time frame they gave you to book your party, so you will still have time to find another hall for your date if you need to.
