Re: Invitations to Greece--Advice please!

I would send the invites a little earlier - maybe a week earlier. As for the translating - you can get translator software, but if you don't want to go that route - could a family member translate it and send some out that way?

I would definetely write them in Greek if you can... I know you can use the font 'Symbol' for Greek letters and the font comes with most computers. I had to do Portuguese invitations and sent them out on a Monday morning and ppl received them on Friday, so if possible send a little earlier... HTH!!!

Hi Hall Twin! :)

I have a lot of overseas guests... we are sending save the date cards out to them a few months in advance so they can start making the arrangements if they are going to come. But the official inviations will go out to them with everybody else's.

I think it would be nice touch to send a translation along with your invites... can someone in your family help do that for you ?? If your guests from Greek speak and read English, then I don't think it's necessary. If not, it may be adviseable so they understand everything! GOOD LUCK!

we sent out invitites to greece and italy...
we sent them the plain old english invitations.... they can figure out what they mean... and we did not send them out any earlier... our parents spread the word via phone to everyone way ahead of time of when our wedding would be... i would not stress too much!

Just a thought...

If you decide to use a translation program to translate your invites have someone who speaks Greek to look them over. Translation programs do not work 100%!

i would send them out early and then have a relative on fh's side call to confirm - someone who spreaks greek, obviously.

no need to drive yourself nuts with 2 different languages.

We sent ours to Greece the same time because we already knew who could come and who couldn't. But otherwise I'd send them out as early as possible for people who have to make plans. The post office told us 4-7 business days.

me too, we already know that only one YiaYia is coming out of like 20 or so family members. we just sent the English ones. i didn't really want to go to another invitation place to print them in greek for like 10 invitations. We actually sent them out about a week after the regular invitations b/c that is when my FI got around to addressing them. i'll also send them some favors just to sort of 'include' them.
