Did he come to the wedding and just not give anything? Or was he a no-show altogether?

People just don't realize. The Best man didn't give us anything either - not even a card, and DH did a lot for him.

I could never. I dont understand how people can do somethings and still be friends without it bothering them.

Re: Rude Guest ...Vent

would it be out of the question to make him feel uncomfortable by saying to him,

'I hate to ask this, but we're missing quite a few envelopes. We're afraid we left them in the bridal suite - and we don't know what to write in the thank you's! Do you remember who you gave your envelope to because I know you said you were giving one, so I feel comfortable asking you. I feel terrible because yours is one that is missing!'

Let him babble his way out of that one!

There's always a chance he forgot - I was in a friend's wedding two weeks ago and completely forgot to put my card in. At least 3 of my friends left their cards at the hotel, church, etc ... I mailed mine to the bride's parents last week, but sometimes people just flake out. Although a month is a long time ...

i can see a lot of people saying this is the wrong way to handle it-----but i'm totally with you on this one. i'd have no problem doing this----in this situation, two wrongs make a right. i think it's ballsy to go to a wedding and not as much as acknowledge that it ever happened. so as the bride that got stiffed, i'd love to see the person struggle to explain that one.

I agree, I've forgotten before and then its taken me awhile to mail it.

It wouldn't hurt to ask, especially since when he called he said he'd cover both plates, that gives you reason to believe you possibly lost his card.

As for the letting you know he wasn't bringing the guest he RSVP'ed for, that was really thoughtful of him, he could've just not brought the guest, not given the card and not explained anything.
